There can be a maintenance and consistency advantage, but it should not be overstated.
Because non-infill turf does not use loose sand or rubber granules as a surface infill layer, there is no loose infill to migrate or become uneven during rainfall and routine use.
That can simplify maintenance and eliminate one potential source of surface-material displacement.
However, non-infill construction by itself does not guarantee superior slip resistance. The complete product and installation system still need to be tested.
Slip-Resistance Parameters Buyers Should Check
| Parameter | What to Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Slip resistance | Dry and/or wet test results | Direct evidence of traction performance |
| Test method | Applicable GB, EN, ASTM or sports-surface method | Makes results comparable |
| Drainage rate | Product/system test data | Indicates water removal capability |
| Tuft density | Actual specification | Influences surface structure |
| Yarn profile | Fiber construction and texture | Affects footwear interaction |
| Pile height | Actual measured height | Should be evaluated with density and yarn |
| Surface slope | Project-specific design | Helps prevent standing water |
| Backing perforation | Opening pattern and drainage design | Determines how water leaves the turf |
