  • What to Do About Urine Odor

if your artificial grass is giving off a dog pee smell you need to deodorize those areas to get rid of the smell.

Start by hosing off the area with a garden hose. Then, make a vinegar solution of equal parts of vinegar and water. Spray the area with this solution and rinse with clean water.

Vinegar is a non-toxic, natural deodorizer that is safe for children and pets. It’s a great way to get rid of any bad smells inside the house too.

You can also purchase an artificial turf cleaner.

  • How to Clean Artificial Turf: A Guide for Pet Owners

Watering a lawn can use up to 20,400 gallons of water per month. Having artificial turf in your yard not only saves you water (and money on your water bill) but also provides a beautiful lawn that you and your pet can both enjoy. But do you know how to clean artificial turf after your dog is out there? Read on to find out.

Artificial Turf and Dog Urine and Feces

Artificial grass is installed so that liquids pass through the grass to the substrate underneath. It is made from a porous backing that doesn’t allow liquids or solids to get trapped in the grass.

Your installers can also add a turf deodorizer or install a membrane to provide more airflow between the base and turf.

Some artificial grass may also have crushed rocks under the turf to help filter liquids and small solids through to the soil layer.

When you have artificial turf installed, let your installer know that you have pets. There are some types of turf that have a special anti-microbial surface to prevent the spread of bacteria from feces.

The best way to prevent problems with artificial turf for pets is to clean it up right away. Just like when you take your dog for a walk, scoop it up and toss it in the bin.

Fresh dog poop is a lot easier to manage than when it has hardened onto your turf.

  • Dealing with Hardened Feces

If you forget to go scoop up your dog’s poop for a few days or longer, you may have to work a little harder to clean up after your pet.

If you find dried dog poop, spray it with water from your hose. This will loosen the waste so it is easier to pick up.

Once you scoop what you can, give the area another rinse. You can then use a paper towel and your vinegar solution to clear away any remaining stool.

  • 5 Questions to Guide Your Putting Green Design

For many golf enthusiasts, owning a personal putting green is the ultimate dream. Unlimited play time in the comfort of home— what could be better than that? In terms of material, it’s hard to beat artificial turf in Dallas. It provides the beauty and game mechanics of a golfing range, but with the low-maintenance nature and versatility of turf.

To make sure your putting green meets your expectations, you should consider every detail carefully. These five questions will help you arrive at the best design possible.

5 Questions to Guide Your Putting Green Design

Artificial grass may be the ideal putting green material, but your dream green is only possible with careful planning. Use the following questions as a design guide:

How much space do you need?

The size of your putting green depends on what you want to achieve and the size of your yard. Will you be practicing different shots and putts, or are you planning to work on your stroke? Your playing goals will affect how big should be.

Where do you want to place your green?

Next, consider the location of your new putting green. If your property is big enough, select an area with dips and hills to maximize the challenge. It’s okay if your yard doesn’t have natural slopes. The next best choice is a site where installers can recreate them.

Another important factor when choosing the location is safety. Ideally, it should be near enough so that people can access it easily, but away from windows, cars and spots that people frequent.

What features do you want on your putting green?

In an actual golf course, you’ll find features such as ponds and sand traps that make the game more fun and challenging. You can have the same experience with a backyard putting green made of artificial grass in Dallas, TX.

As long as your space can accommodate it, consider upgrading your green with multiple holes, bunkers and cuts of fringe to keep things exciting.

What shape would you like for your backyard putting green?

Experienced artificial grass installers can cut turf into virtually any shape and size, so don’t be afraid to get creative with your installation. Factor in the areas of your lawn you want to improve, and use these as a guide on which design and shape suit your playing style.

Who will be using your putting green?

Will you be the only one playing on your putting green, or are guests welcome to use it? Are you planning to share it with your children? These are important questions for any project involving artificial grass in Dallas.

This will affect a lot of elements, such as the location (e.g. if you’re using it as a social amenity, place it near your patio), design (kids love mini-golf courses, and you can use turf for that design) and features.

  • Increase the Value of Your Home

Home buyers are noticing upgrades and amenities more than ever. You can actually increase the sell value of your home with synthetic grass. It provides an almost maintenance-free backyard landscape AND stays lush and green all year-round!

Most synthetic grass manufacturers offer a 15-year warranty on their products. This means well-cared for grass can last more than a decade. That is definitely an investment! And something to be noted when selling or buying a home.

Invest in the Comfort of Your Backyard

Synthetic grass is definitely a financial investment in your home. More so, it is an investment in more time outside enjoying your backyard (or front yard, rooftop, balcony…). When you spend less time mowing, watering, edging, or seeding you spend more time enjoying your space.

So, is it worth it? We think so. We get to follow-up with happy clients daily. We hear it all the time: no more muddy dog paws, no more patchy grass areas, more time practicing their swing, loving the feel of the grass on their feet… all the reasons to invest in synthetic grass.

  • Is Synthetic Grass Worth The Investment?

Upgrading the aesthetic of your home with synthetic grass is definitely an investment. Is it worth it? The short answer is YES!

2021 saw an enormous increase in residential installations of synthetic grass. And for good reason. With its versatility, durability, and clean look… turf brings a lot to the table. But, should you invest?

Increase the Usability of Your Space

We have installed synthetic grass in the most unusual places. From indoor putting greens, to rooftops and balconies the options are endless.  If you have a small yard synthetic grass can be used to break up your space. We recommend a dog runputting green, or play area for kids as great additions to increase usability in your backyard landscape.

Another way to enhance your backyard space is with synthetic grass in and around poolscapes. These areas stay green and lush all year-round reducing muddy spots or grass clippings in the pool. Not to mention, many times the areas around pools are awkwardly shaped or small. Therefore, they are difficult areas to grow natural grass. Artificial turf can save you the mowing, seeding and sodding time.

We also install synthetic grass on a number of patios, balconies and rooftops. What better way to spend your time outside than with soft grass underfoot? It helps increase the comfort level when enjoying your time outside. It is definitely worth the investment.

  • For Dog Owners: Why Artificial Grass for Dogs Near Me Beats Natural Grass

Artificial grass has become a favorite among Dallas pet owners, especially those with dogs, for its unique features that outclass natural grass.

Wondering if you should make the switch? Here are some of the benefits you can look forward to when you invest in artificial grass for dogs near me:

    1. Durability and Resilience with Artificial Grass

Artificial grass for dogs near me is significantly more durable than its natural counterpart. Paws, claws, digging, and roughhousing that would leave a natural lawn looking like a battlefield have little to no impact on artificial grass.

The synthetic fibers of this grass are made to resist these daily onslaughts and bounce right back to their original shape.

    2. Stain and Odor Resistance

Dog urine and feces can leave unsightly discolorations and unpleasant smells in natural grass.

In contrast, artificial grass doesn’t absorb liquids or odors, which means it is virtually stain-proof. Waste is easily cleaned up without leaving any residue or odors behind.

Some artificial grasses, like the ones we use, even come with an antimicrobial layer, further reducing the chance of any unpleasant smells lingering.

    3. Digging Deterrence

Artificial grass in Dallas offers an excellent solution for dogs that love to dig. As it is securely installed with a strong backing, your dog’s attempts to dig will be fruitless.

This makes it a great deterrent for potential diggers and eliminates the risk of unsightly holes or ruined landscapes that you might face with natural grass.

    4. Pest Repellant with Artificial Grass

Natural grass can harbor ticks, fleas, and other pests that pose a risk to dogs. On the other hand, synthetic grass is not appealing to insects, pests, or parasites. If any of these bugs do find their way onto your lawn, they won’t survive for long.

By choosing artificial grass, you remove this risk, contributing to a safer, healthier play environment for your furry friend.

    5. Artificial Grass are Non-Toxic and Safe

Artificial grass is made from non-toxic materials that are safe for dogs and children. It also eliminates the need for harmful pesticides or fertilizers that are often required to maintain a natural lawn.

    6. Consistent Surface

With natural grass, uneven surfaces, bare spots, or muddy patches can become hazardous, especially for active dogs. Artificial grass offers a smooth, even surface that helps prevent slips, falls, and injuries, making it a safer choice for dog owners.

    7. Low Maintenance – More Time for Play

A synthetic lawn requires less maintenance than natural grass, which is often subject to damage from dogs. You won’t have to worry about seeding, watering, mowing, or weeding.

The occasional rinse and brush are all it takes to keep artificial grass looking fresh and clean, even with a dog or several running around.

As a bonus, this also means you now have more time for bonding with your dog – play fetch, teach them tricks, or just relax on your soft and gorgeous synthetic yard.

    8. Tough All Weather Conditions

Lastly, artificial grass is unaffected by weather conditions, which is not the case for natural grass. Be it scorching heat, freezing cold, or heavy rainfall, artificial grass retains its resilience and beauty.

And unlike natural grass that can become muddy and damaged when wet, artificial grass stays dry and durable, which means a cleaner pet and home.

  • Artificial Grass Rebates are coming to Utah!

State Allocates $5 Million to Support Waterwise Landscaping

The Utah legislature has granted the Division of Water Resources five million dollars to use in a statewide grass removal rebate program. This exciting new program encourages people to switch to waterwise landscaping. Now Utah homeowners will be able to offset the cost of installing artificial turf!

The full statewide program will launch through utahwatersavers.com in spring 2023.

The Division of Water Resources is working with Central Utah, Jordan Valley, Washington County and Weber Basin Water Conservancy Districts to develop program standards for what will be considered “waterwise landscaping.” Communities will work with their districts to adopt standards that qualify for the statewide program.

This program also comes with water conscious rules for new developments. At the very least, this new program will require that park strips in new developments will not have natural grass landscaping. The program will also stipulate that grass lawn areas will exceed no more than half of the total landscaped area for front and side yards.

Eligible participants can receive up to $3 per square foot of lawn replaced with waterwise landscaping. Rebate amount varies by location. Once your application has been approved, you have up to one year to complete your landscaping project.

  • Today the Great Salt Lake takes up roughly 950 square miles

Today the Great Salt Lake takes up roughly 950 square miles, less than a third of its former size in 1987! Ecologists warn of a possible environmental and economic disaster should the Great Salt Lake dry up. The lake bed contains a relatively large amount of arsenic, mercury, and lead which could create poisonous dust clouds should the lake dry up completely.

“The prognosis isn’t good unless there’s massive action. But we have to start within one year, we have to take action now,” says Salt Lake City mayor Erin Mendenhall.

By switching to artificial turf and other forms of drought friendly water, Utah residents can virtually eliminate the need for residential landscape irrigation. “Nationwide, landscape irrigation is estimated to account for nearly one-third of all residential water use, totaling nearly 9 billion gallons per day,” says the US Environmental Protection Agency.
