Oh so you’ve got Astro turf in your yard
Anti-static additives:
Static electricity often builds up between rubber and metal playground equipment. Grasses that have a tufted carbon fiber are called “anti-static” because they eliminate static electricity. This keeps kids safe from static shocks! So now, if a neighbor ever says, “Oh so you’ve got Astro turf in your yard“, you can confidently say “Nah, I’ve got Purchase Green in my yard”.
At Purchase Green, we go above and beyond the stereotypical artificial grass. Explore all the possibilities our products can provide, shop online now or visit one of our local stores today!

Describes select grasses that have been engineered to remain cooler than other types of artificial grasses. We design our cool yarn grasses to divert UV radiation from the shorter curled fibers where heat can be trapped. In many cases, Cool Yarn grasses can produce temperature improvements of 10-20% relative to grasses with the highest heat retention rate.
Non-directional fibers
were first developed for use on professional baseball fields in Japan and are an exceptional solution for high-traffic area applications. Purchase Green uses these fibers to offer superior performance for almost any application. Not just for sports fields anymore, these fibers work for yards, landscapes, playgrounds, and anywhere else.

Artificial Grass? Fake Turf? Which one’s correct?
artificial grass, synthetic turf, fake grass; what’s the difference? The term Astro Turf became synonymous with artificial grass, specifically for sports field applications. Astro turf is actually the name of an artificial grass brand (Kleenex is a brand of tissue, but we still often say “pass me a Kleenex”). A lot of times, the term can conjure up images of fake-looking, uncomfortable, surfaces like this one:
For that, and legal reasons, we don’t use the term. But we know that many still do. If you’re a contractor it’s good to be able to clarify the meaning to customers.

How To Create The Perfect Play Area
No matter how big or small your home is – if you’re creative enough, you can make a play area anywhere.
Here are 5 imaginative ways to create the perfect play area.
- Sensory Play
Sensory play areas are full of bright colours and different textures. You can create a soft and colourful indoor play area by using these great alphabet tiles. You could also add sensory toys, such as a colour changing lamp. Get creative with different sounds and smells to keep your baby entertained for hours.
- Football Goals
Lay down some durable artificial grass in the garden, add some football goals at each end, and voila! A mini football field in your back garden. This is perfect for getting the kids outside for some fresh air and exercise. Alternatively, you could turn your outdoor play area into a mini rugby pitch or hockey field – whichever sport you fancy!
- Make A Den
Every child loves making dens, as they provide a safe space of their own. Get some bed sheets and build a fort behind the sofa. If you have outdoor space, you can create the perfect den with a small shed and a lick of paint. If you’re feeling even more creative, why not build a treehouse or a platform like this one
- A Sensory Garden
Create a sensory garden by planting colourful flowers and painting pots in a variety of colours. Flowers such as forget-me-nots and pansies are brightly coloured and will attract insects to your garden. Lambs ear plants (Stachys Byzantina) are velvety soft and easy to care for. You could also add a variety of herbs, such as mint and rosemary, which have vibrant and safe smells when rubbed between the fingers.
- DIY Tyre Swing
If you’ve got a large and sturdy tree in your garden, why not create your own DIY Tyre Swing. You can buy special ropes which secure your swing to the tree so that nobody goes flying. You could also get creative and paint your tree swing in bright colours, or even in camouflage as part of an obstacle course.

Imaginative ways to create the perfect play area
The Benefits of Play
Research from the NHS has found that exercise and fresh air can significantly improve your mental health. In a study conducted by the University of Essex, it was discovered that exercising outdoors was associated with improvements in both self-esteem and mood. With the rise in technology, it is becoming even more important to encourage children to play outdoors.
Sensory play is just as important as outdoor play. Sensory activities at a young age allow children to explore and investigate. It has been discovered that sensory play helps to develop nerve connections in the brain, as well as the development of speech and motor skills.
By creating a safe and vibrant space in your home, you can help to teach your child vital skills which they’ll carry with them through life.

BuzzGrass lands at Harvey Nichols
BuzzGrass installed at City of London Distillery Rooftop bar at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge.
BuzzGrass South has recently completed an installation at a new rooftop bar on the fifth floor of London’s Harvey Nichols store. The terrace bar has been fitted with BuzzGrass artificial turf to provide a true outdoor aesthetic to the designer store’s flagship London premises. It’s a great example of using artificial grass in commercial spaces.
This is a brilliant example of the versatility of artificial grass, whether it’s indoors, outdoors or 5 stories above ground, we’ll bring the grass to you. Artificial turf is also suitable for:
- Offices
- Shops
- Exhibitions
- Gyms
The new installation is fitted with BuzzGrass Luxe. This specific product is backed with polyurethane, making it water-resistant with drainage holes for quick and effective water release; the 24mm pile height also gives a more realistic feel to the turf adding to the bar’s premium touch.
Creating an outdoor space for commercial use can come with its challenges, such as high footfall, frequent drink spillages and unreliable UK weather. However, artificial grass can be a great solution for bars and restaurants to add value to their outdoor space, as it is easy to clean and suitable for use in all weather without the risk of mud.
Tom Fielden, BuzzGrass Sales Manager, said “It’s amazing to work with such an established brand in the capital. The BuzzGrass South team and Harvey Nichols have worked to create a rooftop bar that mixes the feel of a premium outdoor restaurant with an elegant external drinking area.”
