  • The Lincolnshire: Bastion in the Air World War

The launch will be welcoming 100 local VIP’s, the Commanding Officers of the UK’s RAF stations, the Air Officer Commanding 1 Group RAF and also all key partners in the project.

Dave Harrigan MBE, Aviation Heritage Manager at Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire, said: “The Lincolnshire: Bastion in the Air World War I project is delighted to be working with LazyLawn®.

“The authentic airfield is an exact replica of how it was in the First World War, complete with a grass runway area beautifully laid by LazyLawn®.

“The intricate work and professional look of the diorama has been enhanced by LazyLawn®’s attention to detail, and we are very happy to have them as partners to this nationally recognised project.”

Peter Footitt, Production Director at LazyLawn®, said: “We are proud to be involved in such an important event for the RAF. The exhibition looks very impressive so far and we are looking forward to seeing the finished product at the launch.”

  • LazyLawn helps hay fever sufferers to reclaim their gardens

As the nation’s 10 million hay fever sufferers are braced for the pollen season, those determined to soak up the sunshine in their own gardens can fight back by swapping their grass for a LazyLawn.

LazyLawn, the nations leading brand of artificial grass, is seeing an increase in enquiries from those looking for a solution to hay fever hell and a way to enjoy their gardens once more. As 95% of hay fever sufferers are allergic to grass pollen, installing an artificial lawn could help to reduce symptoms and allow people to reclaim their gardens.

Andy Driver, Marketing Director at LazyLawn, comments: “A LazyLawn can be a great preventative measure for hay fever sufferers who want to be able to enjoy the warmer weather, rather than hiding themselves away.

“Those with hay fever are advised to avoid exposure to grass and mowing the lawn in order to relieve symptoms, but people naturally want to make the most of spring and LazyLawn offers the perfect solution.

“While synthetic grass won’t cure hay fever, installing a LazyLawn can help to minimise symptoms by limiting your exposure to grass pollen, creating hay fever free haven in your own garden.”

Grass pollen, which contains proteins that cause the nose, eyes, throat and sinuses to become swollen, irritated and inflamed, usually disperses from late May to early August.

  • A level playing field

The 7-a-side pitch was fitted with LazyLawn Vitality product in a 30mm depth in a project that took just over three months to complete. The install was slightly hampered by contending with British wintry conditions, the additional complication of groundworks and surface preparation and levelling out a natural dip that was discovered in the area. The surrounding fencing had been removed and there was additional remediation of the ground and replacement of the pin curbs to rectify.

Right product for purpose and budget

“We’ve worked with Steve and his team at LazyLawn and Xternal Worx since 2016 – the quality and the choice of product is superb.” explains Head Teacher Rachel Beckett, who was keen to ensure the high quality and finish had continuity across the playgrounds and sports surfaces at the Academy.  She also wanted to make sure the right product and specification was selected for purpose and budget. She continues: “Other suppliers were keen to push 3G and 4G pitches but Steve understood exactly what we really needed – this is a pitch for small children, after all!”.

Rachel and her grounds team were also impressed with the striped finish the Vitality 30mm created. With the fence removal, she could ensure the view from her office was unencumbered, perfect for her to enjoy the open space and keep an eye on the sporting activities of the pupils easily.

  • Delivering the client brief for visitor engagement

The LazyLawn Creative team discuss the possibilities for the design each year, with ideas briefed by the management team at The Lexicon – and it never disappoints.

Once again, I’m amazed at the end results on the steps this year. The LazyLawn team are brilliant – whatever wild and wacky ideas we throw at them, they always come back with a great interpretation of our design brief.

This year, the step design and delivery has really taken our breath away – the combination of colours and its simple yet striking stripe design has been incredibly well received by all who have seen it. And particularly the public response has been fantastic – especially on a sunny day, it is attracting people to sit, take photos and enjoy what would otherwise be an unexciting space. It makes a great, bold, bright statement and we love it!

  • Simple but stunning surface design

Developing the step story in artificial grass from that first 2019 installation in plain green with a simple one-step logo, this year’s artwork features red, yellow, green striped edges along the bright blue esplanade.  Finished with a repeating white The Lexicon logo, the team have used around 170 square metres of Fun Grass at a depth of 10mm.

    A finely-tuned puzzle

As in the last five installations, the intricacies of each logo piece are pre-made at the company’s cutting facilities in Oakham, Rutland. This year saw the additional pre-cutting of the striped grass sections for each step. The puzzle is then assembled and skillfully installed in situ.

Whilst the end results look seamless and straightforward, it is always a challenging installation – and one to which we love to rise! There’s a lot of preparatory work in the step sections themselves, as well as the assembly and accuracy required to fit and fix the pieces securely and safely in place. However, it’s always worth it when we take a step back and take in the overall effect when it’s complete.

  • Return to The Lexicon: LazyExpo steps up again

The steps at The Lexicon, Bond Square, Bracknell have once again been dressed to welcome its Spring and Summer retail visitors. Extending its bold and bright history, shoppers are treated and greeted this year with a primary colour display as they approach their shopping experience at the mall in Berkshire.

Since 2019, the LazyLawn Expo team have returned each year (bar the pandemic) to fit and hit the client design brief with a strong splash of colour upon the steps that lead the way to the entrance – and this year goes one step further.

  • building a sub base for artificial grass installations.

Based on the success of these panels in unique applications, more and more installers started using them as a sub base for everything from athletic fields and putting greens to lawns and landscape. They can installed in a fraction of the time as a crushed rock base and do not require heavy equipment that often destroys the surrounding area. Simply excavate the land, lay the geotextile fabric and drop and lock the panels into place. The savings in labor, equipment, clean up and other costs makes these panels incredibly cost effective. Plus, they provide the long term structural stability and drainage to ensure a long-lasting solution that performs. Visit Ultra Base to see why these panels are ideal for building a sub base for artificial grass installations.

    A Concrete Pad Alternative

Ultra Base also offer panels for those looking for a safer, less permanent, and better draining alternative to a concrete pad or sub base. By Replacing Mass with Science, Ultra Base panels streamline installation, reduce site disruption, and provide a number of benefits over concrete pads. Visit Ultra Base to view panels that can be used for installing artificial grass over concrete or as a concrete pad alternative.

  • Both are great materials for your sub-base

CMB is a blend of recycled concrete and/or recycled asphalt and consists of a sand-gravel mixture of varying-sized particles up to ¾ of an inch in size. Decomposed granite, or DG, is granite rock that has weathered to the point that it readily fractures into smaller pieces of weak rock and/or into mixtures of gravel, sand, and silt-size particles of clay. Both are great materials for your sub-base. CMB is more easily compacted than DG but doesn’t drain quite as well. DG, meanwhile, yields a smoother finish than CMB but it is quite a bit more expensive. Generally, CMB is the best choice for artificial grass in landscaping while DG is the best choice if you’re installing a putting green.
