  • Are there Pikachu-style pickleball courts?

Pickleball has become one of the fastest-growing sports, attracting people of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a community resident looking to add new amenities or a homeowner seeking a private playground, quality courts are key—and we at Shuangzhu are ready to help.

    Why is pickleball so popular?

    1. It’s accessible to all ages.

Younger players crave its fast-paced pace (which blends elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis), while older players appreciate its low-impact design (smaller courts = less running, slower ball speeds).

The number of players in the United States has jumped from approximately 482,000 (2021) to over 48.3 million (2023), proving the cross-generational appeal of pickleball.

    2. A growing tournament and community.

Professional tours offer high purses, attracting global talent; local clubs host amateur leagues, fostering competition and camaraderie. Well-maintained courts are the cornerstone of this vibrant community. Media and social media buzz

    3. Professional games are being broadcast live on TV, and Instagram and TikTok are flooded with pickleball-related content (techniques, highlights). As more and more people join the game, the demand for high-quality courts is growing.

  • How our playground building materials helped bring this school’s vision to life?

When this client contacted us, they had a clear goal: to upgrade their aging playground into a space capable of withstanding the state’s scorching summer heat, sudden thunderstorms, and accommodating hundreds of children daily.

Just recently, they sent us a feedback video that delighted our team—it showcased the final field created using our full suite of materials: a durable, durable running track, a custom green artificial soccer field, and an easy-to-maintain basketball court floor.

“It’s a world of difference,” the client told us. “Last summer, our old track was too hot for the kids to play on—but now, it stays cool in the sun, and even with daily use, there’s not a crack in sight.” He then panned his camera to capture the soccer field’s turf, its beautiful, natural color. “I thought it was real grass at first! It’s soft enough to roll on, yet firm enough—we’ll have soccer games every weekend, and I’m sure the kids will love it!” The basketball court also received praise: “It’s been raining lightly the past couple of days, but the surface is still very non-slip, allowing the kids to play safely even in the rain. It only takes us a few minutes to wipe off the mud. We really appreciate your team’s design and dedication!”

  • The low maintenance lawn creates the ideal area for children

“The installation was much quicker than expected, and provided a wonderful surprise for our children when they came back after their half term break.

“We are now able to teach children road safety using this fun and bright teaching aid that can be used in all weathers.”
Molly Arnold, Project Co-ordinator for LazyLawn® said: “We are proud to have added to Brooke Hill Academy’s outdoor space, and we are finding more schools are interested in getting a LazyLawn® for themselves.

“The low maintenance lawn creates the ideal area for children to play on all year round. Standing the pressure of lots of use, the area is also low-slip, with no muddy mess and no surface burns, unlike older style artificial turf.”

  • Fun lawn is way to road safety for Oakham children

Children in Oakham returned to school after half term recently to find a fun outdoor space ready for them to play on that also teaches them about road safety.

A previously hard, concrete area is now soft, interesting to play on and educational at Brooke Hill Academy thanks to LazyLawn®. The space is also safe to use come rain or shine, especially whist riding their scooters and trikes.

The UK’s leading supplier of artificial grass, which has its headquarters in nearby Market Overton, has installed the new play area at the Brooke Road school ahead of schedule and during half term in order to avoid disruption to the pupils.

80 square metres of Fun Grass and Wonder Yarn 26mm was used to create a bespoke mock road, with coloured grass for tarmac, white lines, a parking bay and a grass surround.

The result is an all-weather area designed to provide a setting for both playtime and outdoor learning.

  • LazyLawn helps hay fever sufferers to reclaim their gardens

As the nation’s 10 million hay fever sufferers are braced for the pollen season, those determined to soak up the sunshine in their own gardens can fight back by swapping their grass for a LazyLawn.

LazyLawn, the nations leading brand of artificial grass, is seeing an increase in enquiries from those looking for a solution to hay fever hell and a way to enjoy their gardens once more. As 95% of hay fever sufferers are allergic to grass pollen, installing an artificial lawn could help to reduce symptoms and allow people to reclaim their gardens.

Andy Driver, Marketing Director at LazyLawn, comments: “A LazyLawn can be a great preventative measure for hay fever sufferers who want to be able to enjoy the warmer weather, rather than hiding themselves away.

“Those with hay fever are advised to avoid exposure to grass and mowing the lawn in order to relieve symptoms, but people naturally want to make the most of spring and LazyLawn offers the perfect solution.

“While synthetic grass won’t cure hay fever, installing a LazyLawn can help to minimise symptoms by limiting your exposure to grass pollen, creating hay fever free haven in your own garden.”

Grass pollen, which contains proteins that cause the nose, eyes, throat and sinuses to become swollen, irritated and inflamed, usually disperses from late May to early August.

  • Continuity and professionalism

In addition to the dip remediation, there was an 820 metre stretch of resin-bound bark-effect perimeter installed – in black for a stark contrast to the lush green of the pitch.  With Steve’s 10-strong team enlisted as needed for concreting, grass installation, resin bound mulch and white-line marking, the project began at the start of July and saw its conclusion in late October.  Normally requiring 300 tonnes of in-fill prior to artificial grass installation, the additional dip fill meant over 530 tonnes of MOT type 1 aggregate and 6mm-to-dust granite was delivered across the project.

“Steve and his team are a credit to your company.” continues Rachel.  “He takes time and would never cut corners – that’s why he continues to be our preferred contractor”.

  • Outdoor Sports Pitch Extends Primary Academy’s All Weather Learning Facilities

Opened at an official ceremony headlined by Stoke City’s Junior Tchamedeu & Port Vale’s James Wilson, Jason Lowe & Sian McHugh in November 2023, Sandon Primary Academy’s brand new sports pitch has already proved a fantastic addition to the school’s outdoor facilities.

With the front approach to the school already covered with LazyLawn artificial surfaces, this latest 2000 square metre installation extends the School’s sports provision and will be an invaluable space for outdoor learning activities into 2024 and beyond.

Responsible for all the site’s artificial grass and resin-bound surfaces, Steve Johnson of LazyLawn Sandbach returned to the site in this latest project, just one in a number completed over the last eight years. His team are experts in the supply and installation of synthetic surfaces and wet-pour safety surfaces.

  • Experts in event and logo flooring and surface designs

The installation usually remains down from early May throughout the summer months, removed by the client when it suits.

  • Delivering the client brief for visitor engagement

The LazyLawn Creative team discuss the possibilities for the design each year, with ideas briefed by the management team at The Lexicon – and it never disappoints.

Once again, I’m amazed at the end results on the steps this year. The LazyLawn team are brilliant – whatever wild and wacky ideas we throw at them, they always come back with a great interpretation of our design brief.

This year, the step design and delivery has really taken our breath away – the combination of colours and its simple yet striking stripe design has been incredibly well received by all who have seen it. And particularly the public response has been fantastic – especially on a sunny day, it is attracting people to sit, take photos and enjoy what would otherwise be an unexciting space. It makes a great, bold, bright statement and we love it!

  • Return to The Lexicon: LazyExpo steps up again

The steps at The Lexicon, Bond Square, Bracknell have once again been dressed to welcome its Spring and Summer retail visitors. Extending its bold and bright history, shoppers are treated and greeted this year with a primary colour display as they approach their shopping experience at the mall in Berkshire.

Since 2019, the LazyLawn Expo team have returned each year (bar the pandemic) to fit and hit the client design brief with a strong splash of colour upon the steps that lead the way to the entrance – and this year goes one step further.
