Seams are one of the most important structural areas of a non-infill artificial turf system. Unlike infilled turf, non-infill systems rely more heavily on the stability of the backing, adhesive system, seam tape, and installation quality because there is no loose infill layer providing additional weight and support.
Over time, thermal expansion and contraction, heavy foot traffic, moisture, substrate movement, UV exposure, and installation errors may cause seams to open, curl, wrinkle, or separate from the backing.
The good news is that most seam problems can be repaired if they are identified early. The appropriate repair method depends on whether the damage involves only the adhesive, the backing, or the turf yarn itself.
