For international projects, buyers should avoid converting Chinese specifications into a simple one-to-one “European standard.”
Different standards evaluate different characteristics.
For sports applications, purchasers may consider test and certification frameworks such as:
- FIFA Quality Programme for football turf systems
- EN 15330 series for sports surfaces and synthetic turf applications
- EN 14836 for testing certain synthetic sports surfaces
- EN 13672 for abrasion resistance of synthetic sports surfaces
- REACH requirements for chemical substances entering the EU market
- ASTM test methods where applicable to the project and purchasing specification
In North America, project specifications may also reference ASTM methods for individual properties such as abrasion, tensile performance, dimensional stability, or material characteristics.
The important principle is that the entire turf system should be evaluated against the requirements of the intended application, rather than claiming that one fiber parameter represents compliance with all European or American standards.
